Acquisition & Provenance

How This Copy Came to the Library

This was a textbook from an elective class my now wife and I took together back in college.

Place in My Physical Library

The book remains in the library less because it is an indispensable textbook than because ancient Greece keeps reappearing in Drew’s reading and thought.

About This Copy

This is the fifth paperback printing of the second edition published by Cornell University Press in 1996. The cover and page edges show the wear of a textbook that was carried through a college course, and the surviving bookseller labels remain part of that history.

Memories & Connections

I probably should get rid of this book, but as the years go by I keep finding more connections back to ancient Greece, so it continues to take up space on my shelf.

This introductory textbook surveys the archaeology, art, architecture, and material culture of ancient Greece from the Bronze Age through the Classical period.
