The title page identifies this as the 1895 Harper & Brothers edition of The Boy Travellers in the Levant: Adventures of Two Youths in a Journey through Morocco, Algeria, Tunis, Greece, and Turkey, with Visits to the Islands of Rhodes and Cyprus, and the Site of Ancient Troy. The copyright notice is dated 1894.

The brown cloth binding uses a restrained but memorable sunrise design in gilt, surrounded by dark geometric corner ornaments. The copy is substantially worn: the cloth is rubbed, the spine ends are frayed, and the front hinge is cracked and exposed beside the title page. Those defects are part of this physical copy’s record rather than details to conceal.

The publisher’s catalogue is valuable evidence of the mature series. It lists the Boy Travellers volumes together as an ornamental, illustrated set priced at three dollars each, with the two Young Nimrods books advertised beneath them.

This 1895 volume preserves its gilt sunrise binding and records the mature Boy Travellers series despite substantial wear to its hinge and cloth.
