Did a seven week summer run camp that ended with a 5k on the 4th of July. I didn’t track my runs and I told myself if I could get through that camp without injury and signed up for the 15 week Fall camp that starts in August I would start tracking my runs.
Well I did get slightly injured, IT band flared up at the end. But the summer camp was a success. That year prior I ran that 5k in 30 minutes (slightly under). This year, after the run camp with a bum IT band I ran it in 23:45.
So anyways, the Fall Camp starts this Tuesday. I’m signed up and I’m also signed up for the half marathon that the camp builds toward.
So I just logged this run holding my phone in my hand. Not a fan of carrying the phone for an entire run.
Back in 2014 I got my first Garmin Forerunner. I got it as a graduation gift from college. Sadly, that marked the end of my running consistency but I would still use that watch off and on for years.
I have not seen that watch in 5 years (since having kids). I looked for it when I started that 7 week camp earlier and could not find it. Anyways, I did a deep search today and found it. Sadly it is in bad shape. I picked it up and both sides of the wrist strap just fell apart. I’ve got it on the charger so if it lives I’ll get a new strap and go from there. If it is dead dead then I’ll need to get one of today’s fancy watches.
Anyways, I’m excited for Fall run camp and I’m excited to be back on Strava. Thought I’d take the opportunity to mark the occasion with a longer writeup for context.
Feels good to be back!
Oh yeah, the run was mid. Tried to go slow but felt like $h*t. Was up all night with one of the girls, was in the car all day driving to appointments in Orlando and back home. Also summer in Florida but whatever.
