New Workout Activity Calendar

Why I added an emoji-based activity calendar to the Gymnasium realm and how I currently update it from Garmin, Strava, and Final Surge screenshots.

My attempt with this site is to make it almost like a fun house where you can explore and get lost in the different rooms and realms.

Each realm is a siloed interest of mine. The idea is that each one serves as a landing page for my blog posts or videos, displayed chronologically.

However, I knew I wanted to highlight certain things for each realm. My initial approach was to have a “Highlighted” section. After implementing it, the section just felt redundant, so I removed it entirely.

My first attempt at a permanent feature worthy of replacing that section is the Activity Log in the Gymnasium realm.

This is an activity calendar that displays the various physical activities I log with my Garmin watch. Each activity gets its own page that you can click into for a bit more detail, but on the calendar itself, each activity is represented by an emoji.

Currently, I take a screenshot of the activity in one of my running applications—Garmin, Strava, or Final Surge—and feed the screenshot to my OpenClaw agent to update my site with that activity.

I have plans to automate this in the future.

My original inspiration for this tracker was the GitHub contributions calendar. I always thought it was a fun, at-a-glance visual, and my activities are already being tracked, so why not include them on my own site?
